Cool Edit 2.1 Problem (Now Updated)

Something odd is going on with my Syntrillium Cool Edit 2.1. I’m not sure what triggered it off so I don’t know how to resolve it. I’ll paste a screenshot below to illustrate the strangeness :
The start of the waveform is a recording of silence but you can see there’s some “noise” on the lower [...]
